Working Phase of the Interview
Post introduction of self; this is the portion of the interview where you collect data from the patient

These responses are meant to facilitate the patients control of the interview:
Facilitation
Silence (be comfortable with)
Reflection (echoes)
Empathy
Clarification (confirmation)
Interviewer Leads and Expressions/Thoughts on Obtained Information (Verbal Responses)
These are verbal responses that the interviewer makes after the patient is finished with their initial thoughts:
Confrontation (clarifying inconsistent info)
Interpretation (your thoughts and associations)
Explanation
Summary
Developmental Task of the Older Adult
Finding purpose and evaluating existence
Interpreters
Bilingual team member or trained medical interpreter
Consider the pros/cons of a family member interpreting (more cons)
