What was the Counter reformation?
The counter reformation was when the Roman Catholic Church set up different ways of stopping the spread of Protestantism is a final stand.
What were the 3 things that the Roman Catholic Church set up to stop Protestantism?
The Council of Trent, The New Religious Order and The Inquisition.
What was the Council of Trent?
A council of church leaders who restated catholic beliefs and removed some of the old abuses.
Who were the New Religious Order?
They were missionaries sent out to improve the standard of religious education and teach people catholic beliefs.
What was the Inquisition?
When in Catholic countries like Spain, people suspected as Protestants were questioned by a court of law called the Inquisition. Many Protestants were tortured or burned at the stake if they did. It change there beliefs.
