what is the Coriolis effect?
a phenomenon that causes prevailing winds to move diagonally, also causes winds to blow clockwise in the northern hemisphere
what is caused by the rain shadow effect?
deserts develop on the leeward side of mountains
what are the high latitudes so cold?
lack of direct sunlight (don’t confuse latitude with elevation)
why do different places on earth receive different amounts of sunlight?
because of earths tilt
