Chapter 3 Super MAXIMUM Power Remix #80698 Flashcards
An Original Figure being transformed is called a ______
preimage
After an image has been transformed it is called ______
an image
What are Rigid Transformations?
Transformations that result in both images being congruent.
Examples: Rotations, Reflections etc.
What are the three types of Rigid Transformations?
- Translations
- Reflections
- Rotations
(TRR)
What are Non Rigid Transformations?
Transformations that result in the image being different than the pre-image. (Not Congruent)
Example: Horizontal Stretch
What is the exception to the Rigid Transformation rule?
If a scale factor of a change (stretch, compression, or dilation) is 1, then no change is made to the pre-image making both triangles congruent.
What does a 90° clockwise degree rotation do?
The order of coordinates switches and the new y-coordinates change sign.
T(a , b) = T(b, -a)
Also equal to to 270° counterclockwise.
What does 180° rotation do?
Keep the order of coordinates, but switch the sign.
T(a , b) = T(-a , -b)
(This is the same for a clockwise or counterclockwise rotation)
What does a 270° clockwise rotation do?
It switches the order of the coordinates and the new x switches signs.
T(a , b) = T(-b , a)
What does a 360° rotation do?
THERE IS NO CHANGE NO DIFFERENCE iN ThE CoORDiNaTES
What is a Scalene Triangle?
A Scalene Triangle is a triangle with sides that each have a different length. (Has no congruent sides)
What are the two rules of Scalene Triangles?
- The opposite side of the smallest angle will always be the smallest side.
- The opposite side of the biggest angle will be the longest side.
What you should you always remember about triangles’ angles?
All of them added together equal 180°!
What are Equilateral Triangles?
Triangles that all have the same side lengths.
(All sides are congruent, all angles are congruent with 60°)
What is an Isosceles Triangle
A Triangle that has two sides that are the same length
(Two sides are congruent.)
