Chapter 3 Non-enzymatic Function Flashcards
Common structural proteins in a cell
Actin, collagen, keratin, Tubulin, Elastin
Commonality to structural proteins, in terms of their structure
Many have a repeating secondary structure, allowing these to interact with each other.
Two polar structural proteins
Actin & Tubulin
Motor protein (definition)
Proteins that exhibit some capability to transform across the cell, displaying enzymatic activity
Kinesins and dyneins interact with what cytoskeletal feature?
Microtubules
Kinesins and dyneins travel in different directions and are responsible for vesicle transport. Which protein goes in which direction?
Kinesins go in the positive direction while Dyneins go in the Negative direction, toward the negative pole of the microtubule.
Binding proteins, definition
Binding proteins stabilize some sort of molecule but don’t have structural or enzymatic function
