Chapter 3- Exploring Data: Central Tendency Flashcards
Mean
X bar
Sum of the scores divided by the number of scores
Degree of uncertainty that goes with x bar just because it is from a sample
Median
Point that divides the distribution of scores RIGHT down the middle, regardless of the data point values
Need to put your numbers in descending order for this to work
When giving group- give the actual number NOT the group
Median location
N+1/2
The medians position
Mode
Most frequently occurring number. Score with the highest frequency
You can have multiple modes
.
Fx
F multiplied by x
Mean? What measure of central tendency would I say?
Interval and ratio. Because there are actual real quantifiable differences between each other
Median
Ordinal, interval, ratio
Mode
All scales!!
Know how calculate weighted mean
Multiply by percentage
Add total
Divide by N
