Lateral/Medial
Medial is towards the midline of the body and Lateral is away from the midline of the body
Distal/Proximal
Distal refers to distance and Proximal refers to proximity
Anterior/Posterior
Anterior is the front of the body and Posterior is the back of the body
Superior/Inferior
Superior is what is above and Inferior is what is below
Supine/Prone
Supine is laying the back and Prone is laying on your stomach
Sagittal
Glass is on the right and left of your body so you can only move forwards and backwards
Frontal
Glass is infant and behind you so you can only move left and right
Transverse
When you are cut in half so you have to move your upper and lower body parallel to the line
Flexion/Extension
Pulling in our extending
Dorsiflexion/Plantar
Dorsiflexion is raising your toe upwards and Plantar is your toes facing down.
Abduction/Adduction
Abduction is away from the midline and Adduction is towards the midline
Circumduction
Moving in circles
Rotation (Medial/Lateral)
Rotating towards the body or away
Pronation/Supination
Supination is when your palm is facing forwards and Pronation is when your palms are facing back
Inversion/Eversion
Inversion is the bottom of the foot facing midline and Eversion is the bottom of your foot facing outwards
