What is popular sovereignty?
Power to the people ( or the people have given their government the power)
What is limited government?
Government has only that Authorities have what the people given them
Rule of law
No one is above the law
Separation of powers
Distributes the power of the national government among the congress ( legislative branch)(senators and rep. Elected by voters), the president elected by electors ( executive branch), the courts ( judicial branch) justice by appointment choose by the government.
What is check and balances?
Each branch is subject to the number of constitutional check (restraint) by the other branches.
Veto
The congress has the power to make the law, the may reject any act of congress.
Judicial review
It is the power of a court to determine the constitutionality of a governmental action.
Unconstitutional
To declare illegal and void with no force and effect
Federalism
The division of a power among a central government and serval other religion government
