What is civic humanism?
Civic Humanists believed that being a responsible citizen meant educating yourself about history and political issues and working to improve society.
What is humanism? How did it change society?
1st. A person who adopts a system of a thought centers on humans and their values, capacities, and worth; concern with the interests, needs, and welfare of humans. 2nd. Humanism really promoted education and the free exchange of thoughts and ideas.
How was Renaissance art different than Medieval times? Be able to identify specific details.
- Medieval art was mostly religious and concerned with conveying Christian beliefs and values.
- The style of renaissance painting itself was also much more realistic than medieval art.
- Medieval Times they had halos and in Renaissance they stop using them a lot
New scientific discoveries and who they made by.

The importance of Copernicus, Kepler, and Galilei to astronomy.
- Copernicus- theory that the sun is near the centre of the universe not the universe, was also called the father of modern science
- Kepler - theory that plants travelled in a elliptical (oval) orbit, not a perfect circles
- Galilei - confirmed Copernicus idea of a Sun- centered universe. Saw sun spots, and mountains on the moon, the stars of the Milky Way, and Jupiter’s moons.
How mathematics and perspective influenced the Renaissance time.

Martin Luther and how he changed the Church.
Martin Luther was a German monk who stood out against the church and wrote the nintey five theses which described the problems of the church. Eventually he was excommunicated and went into hiding, gained followers, and started the Lutheran church( based on his book)
The Protestant Reformation.
The Protestant Reformation was a major 16th century European movement aimed initially at reforming the beliefs and practices of the Roman Catholic Church. Its religious aspects were supplemented by ambitious political rulers who wanted to extend their power and control at the expense of the Church.
