Chapter 3 Flashcards
1
Q
Five Different Parts of Menstural Cycle
A
- Brain
- Bloods of FSH and LH
- Ovary
- Blood Levels of Estrogen and Progesterone
- Endometrium of Uterus
2
Q
Menstrual Phase
A
- Days 1-5
- Uterus Sheds Endomotrium Layer
- Triggered by Reduced Progesteron and Estrone levels
- Progesterone and Esterone levels stimulates pituarty to release FSH to start the proliferative phase
3
Q
Proliferative
A
- 5 -14
- FSH Increases which increase Follices to develop and mature
- Follices Produce more estrogen
- Estrogen Causes Endometrium to thicken
- High level of Estrogeon causes decreased levels of FSh and production of LH
- LH Triggers ovulation
4
Q
Ovulation
A
- Day 15 (Plus or Minus 2 days)
- Fertile Egg is Release
- Triggered by LH
5
Q
Secretory Phase
A
- Days 14 – 28
- LH Cause the follicle to deteriorate into corpus luteum
- Corpeus Lutem promote Progesteorone to be released
- Progesterone promotes Thickening of the Endometrium
- If No implantation occurs and estrogen and progesterone levels are high FSH and LH production is stopped
- Corpeus Lutemum dengernates and decreases progesterone snd estro production
- Low levels of horomones then trigger shedding of endometrium and menstrual phase
6
Q
4 Phases
A
- Menstrual Phase
- Proliferative Phase
- Ovulation (Kinda)
- Secretory Phase
7
Q
FSH
A
- Promotes Follice to develop
- Triggered by low levels of estrogen and Progesterone
