Cultures
Ways of living of different groups of people.
Nomadic
Moving from place to place, often with changes in the four seasons. For example, some Native American groups were nomadic, one others stayed in the same place year-round.
Cultural regions
Areas of the world where people develop similar ways of life, or cultures. For example, Native Americans in North America lived in several cultural regions. The groups within each region have similar cultures.
Artifacts
Objects made by groups of humans, such as tools or clothes. Artifacts help us understand the ways of life of the groups of people who made them.
Gorges
A narrow, deep valley with steep sides.
Mesa
A flat top hill area with steep sides.
Natural resources
Materials or substances, such as minerals, forests, water, and fertile land that can be used for a economic gain.
Natural
Existing in or caused by nature; not made, or caused by humankind.
Map legend
A description, explanation, or a table of symbols, printed on a map or chart to permit a better understanding or interpretation of it.
