Why is infection control essential ?
Helps prevent the spread of infection. So certain steps must be taken in order to prevent the spread.
What is a microbe ?
Microorganisms that invades the body, multiplies, and causes injury or disease.
What are nonpathogenic microbes?
these microbes do not cause disease under normal conditions
What are pathogens?
Microbes that cause or are capable of causing disease

these are microbes that are nonpathogenic but if they enter and multiply in areas of the body where they do not exist they can become pathogens

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
What does the CDC do ?
the CDC is in charge of investigating and controlling various disease. Especially those that are communicable and have epidemic potential.
What does NIOSH stand for
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health
What does the NIOSH do ?
they are part of the CDC, and they are responsible of conducting research and making recommendations for the prevention of work-related illness and injury.

the traditional term applied to patent infections acquired in hospitals.

a term that applies to infections acquired during healthcare delivery in all healthcare settings, including home care.
