Name the causes of VF
ACS, hypertensive heart disease, valvular disease, drugs (anti arrhythmics, TCAs, digoxin, adrenaline), long QT syndrome, acidosis, electrolytes, hypothermia, electrocution
What is the most common cause of sudden cardiac death?
Coronary artery disease
How does pulse pressure help us differentiate types of shock?
Narrow suggests arterial vasoconstriction (cardiogenic, hypovolaemic) whilst high, wide suggests vasodilation (anaphylaxis, sepsis)
What is immediate ACS treatment?
300mg chewed aspirin, GTN, O2 if sats <94%, fentanyl or morphine for pain
How do you manage hypoglycaemia in an unconscious patient?
50mL 10% glucose solution IV, repeat minutely until conscious or 250mL given
