Edit Tool Functions:
what does the zoom tool do?
- zooms in and out on an area in a track
hold option (mac) or alt (wndws) to zoom out, double click to fill the edit window with the longest track

trims excess audio, midi or video content from a clip

clip movement is constrained by other clips
what happens when you use slip mode?
clips can be moved/placed freely without affecting placement of other clips
what happens when you use spot mode?
clips can be moved or placed by specifying a location in a dialog box
what happens when you use grid mode?
clips snap to the nearest grid boundary when moved
what is the main time scale?
determines the time based units used for the main counter
transport functions, selection displays, pre and post roll amounts, grid & nudge values
what can the main time scale be set to?
bars|beats, minutes:seconds, time code, feet + frames & samples
how would you change the main time scale from bars|beats to minutes:seconds?
- view > main counter > desired time scale
- select the main counter popup menu in the edit window
- click on the name of a timebase ruler
