What is the severe Allergic reaction called?
Anaphylaxis
What main categories cause allergic reactions?
Insects, Food, Plants, Medications, others such as dust-chemicals and so on
What are signs of an allergic reaction?
Local swelling, facial swelling and hives
What are signs of an allergic anaphylactic reaction on skin?
Itchy, hives, flushing red skin, swelling of eyes and face, warm tingly feeling
What are signs of an allergic anaphylactic reaction on respitory system?
Tightness, Cough, tachypnea,labored noisy breath, Hoarse, muffled voice, stridor or wheezing
what are signs of an allergic anaphylactic reaction on cardiac system?
Tachycardia, lowered blood pressure
What are general signs of an allergic anaphylactic reaction?
Itchy watery eyes, Headache, runny nose, impending doom feeling
What are signs of anaphylactic shock?
Altered Mental Status, Flushed Dry skin or pale, cool and clammy; nausea, vomiting, change in vitals..increased pulse and respirations, decreased BP
What is treatment Anaphylaxys?
Primary Assessment, Identify and treat life threats, manage A-B-Cs, Oxygen determine exposure, call ALS and use EpiPen
What is tell tale sign of anaphalaxys?
Previous history and rapid onset of serious reaction
What are poisons?
Any substance that can harm the body altering cell function or structure
What are the 4 poison modes of entry?
Ingestion, Absorption, Injection and Inhalation
What is the treatment for poison?
Determine Cause (is scene safe?), Primary Assessment, ABCs, remove contaminants if present (Brush or Flush) and Oxygen if needed; Call ALS, Transport and bring any vomitus with you
What are the drug categories for Substance abuse?
Uppers, Downers, Narcotics, Mind Altering, Volatile chemicals and Alcohol
What makes alcohol issues hard to work with?
Can be acute (binge) or chronic, hard to be sincere, Coordination issues, DT’s and Masks other problems
