Ottomans

Mehmed II
‘The conqueror’ ottoman sultan that conquered Constantinople. After sacking and destroying the city, he restored it. Hagia Sophia converted into a mosque. Later sultans built schools, hospitals, and mansions in the city.
Janissaries
Troops in the ottoman army, often conscripted adolescent boys in conquered areas. Legally slaves, given schooling and converted to Islam. Controlled artillery and firearms, they were very important, this contributed to the fall of the position of the aristo Calvary. Had large political influence, power to dispose sultans and decide who would take the throne.
Akbar
Third emperor of the Mughal empire. Empire reached height under him. Worked to better Muslim Hindu relations. Built strong bureaucracy. Abolished Jizra head tax on non Muslims.
