Germany sends a telegram to Mexico saying if you help us then we’ll help you take Texas and Arizona and Mexico ignores it and sends it to the US instead

Wilson joined WWI but realized that the US wasn’t ready for warfare so he began training people to send instead

US feared people wouldn’t volunteer for WWI like they did in the past so they created a draft system

This draft required any male aged 21-30 and in good health to join the army

Black and white people in different units in WWI
Blacks figured if they were drafted, fought and died like white soldiers then people would see they deserved citizenship
Instead war department wouldn’t let black troops fight and made them general laborers

Women also took up jobs that would’ve typically been a mans job so more men could go out and join the war

This act made it a crime to give information intended to interfere with the war effort
