Because of the earths tilt
What’s a planet?
Something that orbits around a star
Why do planets stay in orbit?
The sun is a star so it has a huge gravity meaning it’s gravitational pull is much stronger and can pull more planets in and keep them in elliptical orbits
What’s a galaxy?
Large collection of stars
What’s a light year?
Unit of distance- how far light can travel in 1 year
How long does it take for earth to orbit around sun 1 time
365 days and a quarter
What does the northern hemisphere do at summer?
Tilts away so we have more hours of daylight as it’s higher in the sky
What does the northern hemisphere do in winter?
Tilts towards the sun so there are less hours of daylight as it’s lower in the sky
Does earth have a magnetic core?
Yes, it’s made from iron nickel and cobalt
What’s a star made of?
Hydrogen and helium
