The meaning or content of language/words
Pragmatics
How language is used (the purpose of speaking, which drives its form and content)
Articulation
the way in which speech sounds are formed (how we move our tongue, teeth and lips to produce phonemes of a language)
Fluency
the smooth, forward flow of communication (influenced by the rhythm and rate of speech)
Rate
the speed at which we talk
Artifacts
The way you look and the way you have decorated yourself
Kinesics
the way we move our bodies (body language)
Proxemics
The study of the physical distance between people as it affects communication
Chronemics
The effect of time on communication
Congenital disorders
Disorders present at birth
Acquired disorders
Disorders that result from illness, accident or environmental circumstances anytime later in life
Dialect
Differences that reflect a particular regional, social, cultural, or ethnic identity, and are not disorders of speech or language.
