Chapter 2 - Types of Data Flashcards
1
Q
discrete vs continuous data
A
discrete: separate countable outcome (set number)
continuous: comes from continuum of of real values (e.g. time, height)
2
Q
frequency, relative frequency and cumulative relative frequency
A
F: count of characteristics
RF: percentage/sample proportion
CRF: running % of all info of a certain magnitude or less
3
Q
characteristics of a distribution
A
- UNI or BIMODAL: 1 vs two bumps
- Fat tails: lots of data on a tail
- symmetrical or skewed: skewed right (tail on right), or left (tail on left)
