- Received a physical therapy degree
- Awarded Chief Reconstruction Aide in 1919
- Returned to civilian life in 1920
- Published her book – Massage and Therapeutic Exercise in 1921

What caused the need for PTAs?
- Development of Medicare and Medicaid

Purpose of the APTA
To establish and maintain professional and scientific standards for those in the PT profession.

What does direct access mean?
Patients can go directly to a PT to be treated, no referral necessary
What does “practitioner of choice” mean for PTs?
PTs have the expertise to treat patients, and insurance should pay for PT services involving movement, function, and health
