What is Percussion?
The process of eliciting sounds by tapping body parts with fingers or small instruments.
Percussion is mainly used to assess the condition of?
Organs in the chest and abdomen.
Are the vibrations and sounds from underlying organs and cavities can be felt and heard?
Yes.
What is Dullness?
Normal thud heard when percussing organs that are dense in consistency such as the liver.
What is Resonance?
A hollow sound that is normal when percussing the lungs because they are filled with air instead of fluid or dense tissue.
What is Tympanic?
Normal sound when percussing the stomach, bladder and intestines.
What does the combination of air and fluid in the stomach, bladder and intestines create?
A drum-like sound.
