1 ) Nouns: common nouns
most nouns form the plural by adding “s” or “es”
country - countries
Name: who/whom or what
People, animals, places, and things-dog holiday, city, house
abstract concepts and qualities- modesty, beauty, success
activities and events- drinking, running, sleeping, crying
time and measurements- number , million , week, mile, decade
Proper Nouns:
specific names that begin with a capital- White House, Toronto, Fido, Halloween, Professor Julie Styles
Collective Nouns:
name a group, team, committee, herd, jury
2) Pronouns: personal
Indefinite Pronouns
substitute for nouns- Jerry Sider (he) (his)
tell who, whom , or what.
Personal Pronouns:

Singular - I, me, my, mine, myself
Plural - we, us, our, ours, ourselves
Second-person Pronouns
The person or people spoken or written to
Singular or plural - you, your, yours
Singular only - yourself
Plural only - yourselves
Third-person Pronouns
the person(s), people, or things(s) spoken or written about
Singular masculine- he, him, his, himself
Singular feminine- she, her, hers, herself
Singular neutral- it, its, itself
Plural neutral - they, them, their, theirs, themselves
Indefinite pronouns
don’t specify whom or what they substitute for.
who, this, everyone, everybody, everything
whoever, that, someone, somebody, something
whom, these, anyone, anybody, anything
whomever, those, no one, nobody, nothing

most verbs can add ing to them

eat, love, count, run, work, worry, write, dance, receive, own, play

Stat-of-being “being” or “linking”
be, being, been, am, is, are, was, were, become, seem, remain, feel, sound, taste, “you SEEM calm”
infinitive- used as nouns
put “to” in front of a verb ie: to eat, to love,
TO KNOW me is TO LOVE me. the verb is “is”
