Integumentary System and function
Hair, Skin and Nails. Site of many sensory receptors. Encloses internal body structures.
Skeletal System and function
Cartilage, Bones, Joints. Supports the body, enables movement.
Muscular System and function
Skeletal Muscles, Tendons. Enables movement, helps maintain body temperature.
Nervous System and function
Brain, Spinal Cord, Peripheral Nerves. Detects and processes sensory information. Activates bodily responses.
Endocrine system and function
Pituitary gland, thyroid gland, pancreas, adrenal glands, testes. Secretes hormones, and regulates bodily processes.
Cardiovascular system and function
Heart, blood vessels. Delivers oxygen and nutrients to tissues. Equalizes temperature in the body.
Lymphatic system and function
Thymus, lymph nodes, spleen, lymphatic vessels. Returns fluid to blood, and defends against pathogens.
Respiratory system and functions
Nasal passage, trachea, lungs. Removes carbon dioxide from the body, and delivers oxygen to the blood.
Reproductive system and function (Man)
Epididymis, testes. Produce sex hormones and gametes, and deliver gametes to female.
Reproductive system and function (Woman)
Mammary glands, ovaries, uterus. Produces sex hormones and gametes, supports embryo/fetus until birth, produces milk for infant.
Digestive system and function
Stomach, liver, gall bladder, large intestine, small intestine. Processes food for use by the body, removes wastes from undigested food.
Urinary system and function
Kidneys, urinary bladder. Controls water balance in the body, and removes wastes from the blood and excretes them.
