Seed
An undeveloped plant with stored food in a protective covering.
Angiosperm
A seed plant that produces flowers.
Gymnosperm
A seed plant that does not produce a flower.
Pollination
The process in which the male and female cells of plants come together.
Xylem
Plant tissue that moves water and minerals up from the roots.
Phloem
The tissue in a plant that moves food down front he leaves to other parts of the plant.
Cambium
A layer of cells in plants that separates the xylem and the phloem.
Root
The part of a plant that absorbs water and mineral, stores food, and anchors the plant.
Stem
The main stalk of a plant.
Leaf
The part of a plant that collects light from the sun and makes sugar.
Taproot
A root that grows deep into the ground and has few hairy branches.
Fibrous Roots
One of the many thin, hairy fibrous roots that characterize some plants.
Prop Roots
Roots that grow like fingers out of the stem.
Aerial Roots
A root that never touches the ground.
Spore
A single cell that can develop into a plant exactly like their one that produced it.
