This type of requirement describes the needs of the stakeholder(s) that must be met to achieve the business requirements | Example: Customer wants to track the status of his support requests.

What are Solution Requirements? Give an example.

A

This type of requirement describes the capabilities and qualities of a solution that meets the stakeholder requirements. It provides the appropriate level of detail to allow for the development and implementation of the solution. Can be Functional or Non-Functional. | Example: Solution will show 3 different status of the customer support requests: Opened, In Process, Closed.

What are Functional Requirements? Give an example.

A

This type of requirement describes the capabilities that a solution must have in terms of the behavior and information that the solution will manage. | Example: Solution automatically changes the status of a support request from Opened to In Process when a support agent is assigned to work on it.

What are Non-Functional Requirements? Give an example.

A

This type of requirement does not relate directly to the behavior or functionality, but rather describe conditions under which a solution must remain effective or qualities that a solution must have. | Example: Response time to support requests should be within 24 hours of reception

What are Transition Requirements? Give an example.

A

This type of requirement describes the capabilities that the solution must have and the conditions the solution must meet to facilitate transition from the current state to the future state, but which are not needed once the change is complete. These are temporary in nature to address topics such as data conversion, training and business continuity. | Example: While implementing the solution, the support team needs to be trained on using the new system and process.

Define “Stakeholders”.

A

People who have an interest in the change and its outcome; also the major source of requirements, constraints and assumptions.

What is the main differentiator between Requirements and Designs? Which comes first normally?

A

Requirements are focused on the need. Designs are focused on the solution. Requirements normally come before Designs but Designs can drive the discover and analysis of more requirements.
