Chrism
The activity of each Christian that fulfills the apostolic nature of the whole church by working to extend the reign of Christ to the entire world. also called evangelization
Apostolate
The mass at which the bishop consecrates the sacred chrism and blesses the oil of catechumens, and the oil of the sick, to be used for liturgical anointings
Chrism Mass
Greek for anointed, this is used as a reference to Jesus because he accomplished perfectly the divine mission of priest, prophet, and king.
Christ
Sacrament of initiation. It completes and confirms sanctifying grace first received in the sacrament of baptism by a special outpouring of the gifts and seal of the Holy Spirit. This sacrament equips the confirmed for worship and apostolic life in the church.
Confirmation
A child of god. This consoling mystery brings each Christian a spirit of sincerity and trust while filling him with love for and wonder towards god
Divine filiation
Perfections that the Holy Spirit forms in is as the. First fruits of eternal glory. The tradition of the church lists twelve of them: charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, generosity,gentleness,faithfulness, modesty, self-control, chastity
Fruits of the Holy Spirit
Definition: tasting or intimately experience the mind sand nature of god
Purpose: making correct judgements in light of God’s will
Effect: to know god and savor His presence
Example: to understand that true happiness comes from god alone
Wisdom
Definition: being instructed by the Holy Spirit as to what actions are morally right
Purpose: to understand divine mysteries
Effect: a greater understanding of divine mysteries and the events of our own lives in light of the life of Christ
Example: Christ opened the minds of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus so they could understand the Old Testament prophecies that referred to Christ
Understanding
Definition: courage to defend and live the demands of our chrisitian life in a hostile environment
Purpose: to be faithful to our vacations as followers of Christ
Effect: strengthening of the will in the face of fear
Examples: martyrs who suffered death rather than deny Christ
Fortitude
Definition: a supernatural understanding that all reactions, our good actions, and all the good hat has been achieved in history comes from god and is directed toward god
Purpose: to help us understand life as god sees it
Effect: it gives one a deeper knowledge of revealed truths.
Example: seeing god behind the beauty and order of nature
Knowledge
Definition: the understanding that we are sons and daughters of god ( divine filiation)
Purpose: to see god as our father and our neighbors as brother and sister
Effect: aligns our relationship with god and our neighbor by letting us see god as “ abba” and our neighbor as brother and sister
Piety
Being instructed by the Holy Spirit as to what actions and morally right
Counsel
Love of god and fear of displeasing him
Fear of The Lord
The ritual act gong back to the Old Testament.whereby men were consecrated for sacred duties
Laying on of hands
Fifty days after Jesus’s resurrection
Pentecost
Per any mark imprinted on the soul by the sacrament of baptism, confirmation, and holy orders.
