What type of attitude should a catering employee have?
They should be: positive, happy, friendly and willing.
How would a catering employee show that they are reliable?
If they are sick call the manager/employer, turn up on time or before, if running late the employee should call the manager/employer and be honest and gain respect and trust.
How should an employee co-operate?
Work well with co-workers and other staff, provide team work and work consistently with others when they are in need of assistance and have a positive attitude with other staff and employers to make co-operating easier.
How should and employer show willingness?
Be eager to participate at given task, smile- show that you enjoy working, show initiative don’t and have a positive attitude that makes you enjoy your job.
How does a worker show initiative?
If you see something that need to be done don’t just stand there and wait to be asked, constantly look for things to do.
How would an employer show interest?
Smile, communicate with other staff and build relationships, also build relationships with customers and take an interest in their lives e.g. Ask how their day was, so they don’t feel worthless or abandoned.
How would an employer show creativity?
Strive to make everything look as best as it can, when preparing a meal- create new aspects on the finishing dish.
How would an employer show courtesy?
Open doors for customers or staff, move out of the way when others need to walk by. Help staff that are struggling with waitressing meals etc.
How would an employer show they have a sense of humour?
Laugh at jokes, even if they are bad, smile, don’t be so serious and tell a few jokes of their own.
How would an employer show they are being honest?
Tell the truth and gain respect from customers and staff.
How would a customer show dedication?
Put pride and effort into their work, show concentration.
What are 3 things a catering job may have to require?
Learning about different cultures, travel and learning skills in food preparation.
What is the back of the house catering career?
Chef that work behind the scenes and prepare the meals.
What is the front of the house catering career?
Are responsible for serving and greeting guest.
What are 6 examples of back of the house careers?
Kitchen hands, catering assistants, counter hands, sandwich hands, cooks and chefs.
What are 6 front of the house careers?
Food and beverage attendants, bar staff, coffee machine operators, customer service assistants, supervisors and host.
How many hours do full time catering employers work?
Between 35 and 40 hours a week.
What are some personal qualities should a catering employee have?
A catering employee should be a ‘self-starter’, they should have self discipline and motivation to succeed in the food industry.
