Thoracic cavity contains the
lungs, heart, esophagus, trachea, bronchial tubes, thymus gland, aorta
Pleural cavity vs Mediastinum in Thoracic cavity
Pleural cavity includes the two lungs
Mediastinum is in between the right and left lung
Abdominal cavity contains the
stomach, small and large intestines, spleen, pancreas, liver, gall bladder
Peritoneum
visceral layer covers organs while parietal layer lines the walls of body cavity
Peritoneum cavity
potential space containing a bit of serous fluid; decreases friction b/w organs in the abdominal cavity
Viscera
internal organs, mainly in the Abdominolpelvic cavity
9 Regions in Abdominolpelvic cavity
1 - Hypochondriac region (left and right)
2 - Epigastric region
3 - Lumbar region (left and right)
4 - Umbilical region
5 - Inguinal region (left and right)
6 - Hypogastric region
Pelvic cavity contains the
portions of the small and large intestines, bladder, rectum, urethra, ureters; uterus and vagina in female
Spinal cavity contains the
nerves of the spinal cord

A type of dwarfism characterized by short limbs, a normal-sized head and body, and normal intelligence

Increase in number of cells
