Chapter 2 - Argand Diagrams Flashcards
What is a modulus?
A modulus is the length of the line segment is called the modulus of the complex number and is denoted |z| .
What is an Argument?
The anti-clockwise rotation from the positive real axis.
Arg [z] =
tan^-1 (y/x)
Top Left quadrant of Argand Diagram =
Arctan (b/a) + Pi
Top Right quadrant argument of Argand Diagram =
Arctan (b/a)
Bottom Left quadrant argument of Argand Diagram =
Arctan (b/a) - Pi
Bottom right quadrant argument of Argand Diagram =
Arctan (b/a)
Modulus formula =
Square root of x^2 + y^2
If f(x) = f(-x) then…
even function.
If f(x) = -f(x) then…
odd function.
Cos θ =
Cos (-θ)
Modulus argument form =
r(Cos θ + i Sin θ)
Sin θ =
Sin (-θ)
[Z1, Z2] =
[Z1] [Z2]
arg [Z1, Z2] =
arg [Z1] + arg [Z2]
arg [Z1/Z2] =
arg [Z1] - arg [Z2]
