Describe the structure of colonial governments in America
Royal governors served as substitutes for the king each individual colony; a governors council in each colony served as a mini House of Lords , with the most influential man in the colony serving effectively as a high court; the General assembly in each colony was elected directly by the qualified voters in each colony and served essentially as a house of commons, passing ordinances and regulations that would govern the colony
The proclamation of 1763
Used to prevent colonist from ruining a prosperous British fur trade by restricting them to the eastern side of the Appalachian chain
The sugar act
The first law passed by Parliament for the specific purpose of raising money in the colonies for the crown. It increased the duties on sugar, placed new import duties on textiles, coffee, indigo, wind, and other goods; and double of the duties on foreign goods shipped from England to the colonies.
Stamp act
Required the payment of a tax on the purchase of all newspapers, pamphlets, almanacs, and commercial and legal documents in the colonies.

Define the declaratory act
It asserted that the king and Parliament had for power and authority to enact laws of binding on the colonies in all cases whatsoever
Define the Townsend Acts
It in Poe’s duties on various items, including CT, imported into the colonies and created a board of customs commissioners to enforce the acts and collect the duties
What is the Boston tea party?
On December 16, 1773 Collins disguised as Mohawk Indians board ships in Boston harbor in through overboard cargoes of tea to show their displeasure with the tea act that exported duties allowing the British East India Company to sell it’s tea directly to the colonies
Define the intolerable acts
Known in the colonies as the coercive acts, this act was designed by Parliament to punish the rebellious colonists from the Boston tea party. It closed the port of Boston, revise the Massachusetts colonial government, and required because I wanted to provide food and housing for British troops stationed in the colonies.
What was the First Continental Congress
A meeting of Wieters from 12 colonies that met in Philadelphia to plan a united response departments actions. They didn’t helps British policy and organize a boycott of British goods. They also encouraged colonial militias to arm themselves.
What led to the first shots of the American revolution?
British troops were ordered to seize and destroy the colonists weapons. In the process shots were fired between British troops and colonial militias
