Self concept
The relatively stable set of perceptions you have about yourself
Self verification
The human tendency to seek out and retain information that confirms or verified our self concept
Self-enhancement
The basic human need to feel good about ourselves
Possible selves
visions, both positive & negative of who & what we might become some day
Self-esteem
It reflects how we feel about ourselves, or the degree to which we are satisfied with our self-concepts
Positive regard
Positive feedback, good feeling , acceptance
Unconditional positive regard
Giving positive regard and acceptance at all times and in all situations
Conditional positive regard
Giving positive regard & acceptance only in certain conditions
Trait self-esteem
An individual’s general pattern of self-esteem over a lifetime
State self -esteem
Type of self-esteem which is vulnerable to momentary fluctuations
Self efficacy
The extent to which we believe we are capable of achieving our goals
Self knowledge
The conscious knowledge you have about your motivations, beliefs, expectations,values, strength & weaknesses
Private self
The part of our self that is known only to us
Public self
The image we present to the world it may vary in different situations
Self- monitoring
Utilizing different parts of our self, or different public selves in different positions
