Chapter 2 - 3D Team Leadership Flashcards

1
Q

Explain the 3 pitfalls with the “there is no ‘I’ in teams” ideology?

A
  1. Individuals are more likely to move on to other companies if they feel undervalued as individuals
  2. When members become fearful of being accused of not being a team player, they may withhold valuable dissenting opinions and easily agree to potentially devastating false consensus
  3. The tendency to overlook the relationships between subteams – once an overall team is up and running. Can lead to faultlines: unhealthy subteam divides where teams are likely to fracture
