Chapter 2 Flashcards
Give an example of an internal structure and an example of an external structure that scientists use to classify organisms
Different functioning cells like blood cells, brain cells, or bone cells
Give 2 examples of how people use classification systems to help them organize their knowledge about living things?
Knowing if their a plant or a animal cell and if they have 1 cell or more
What are the names for two different groups of organisms?
Unicellular and Multicellular organisms
Name the 5 kingdoms of living things
Fungi Animalia Plantae Protista Monera
How are these three spiders the same? List three characteristics to make a classification key
Multicellular
Feed off living things
Invertebrate (no backbone)
Explain how bindweed and bracket fungi are same and different
The same as in multicellular Bracket fungi is from fungi family Bindweed is from plantea kingdom Bindweed make its own food Fungi feeds off living host
What characteristics would you look for in a plant?
Does it have roots, stem, or leaves?
Does it have tube like structures to carry water?
Does it produce flowers or cones?
Explain how each seed is dispersed ?
Animal eats the seeds inside and scatters the seeds far away
Have seedcases that split open and release the seeds
Plant has seeds inside the fruit
Plants produce seeds that have wings or parachutes which scatter seeds in the wind
