monoculture:
lack of biodiversity, nutrients are killed in the soil, diseases spread much easier

-low wages paid to banana workers.
-laws are intended to protect workers but then are frequently disregarded due to corruption/bribing officials by multinational corporations.
-workers attempting to utinize often face termination and are blacklisted.
