Weather:
the condition of the bottom layer of the earth’s atmosphere in one place over a short period of time
Climate:
the term for the weather patterns that an area typically experiences over a long period of time
Rotation:
as the earth moves through space, it spins in its axis like a top. This movement is known as rotation
Day and Night
Revolution:
A revolution is when the earth makes one complete orbit around the sun
Creates the seasons
Solstice:
when the sun appears directly overhead at the Tropics of Capricorn and Cancer these occur during the winter and summer seasons
Equinox:
the sun at noon appears directly overhead the equator the lengths of day and night are nearly equal everywhere on earth and these occur during the spring and fall seasons
Precipitation:
All forms of water that fall from the atmosphere
Front:
Air mass
when 2 air masses meet
Continental Climate:
the great central areas of continents in the northern hemisphere
not near water
Ecosystem:
formed by the the interaction of plant life, animal life, and the physical environment in which they live
take something away, destory the ecosystem
Biome:
used to describe types of ecosystems that can be found in various regions throughout the world
a type of ecosystem
Deciduous:
A type of tree that sheds its leaves in autumn
Coniferous -
A cone bearing tree with needles instead of leaves
Chaparral -
A type of tree or vegetation that is adapted to Mediterranean climates, small evergreen trees, and low bushes or scrub
stunted forest
Savanna-
huge, tropical grasslands
low latitude, wet and dry seasons
