Chapter 2-11 NAT Flashcards
What is a Inside Local address?
Usually an RFC 1918 IP (Private IP address)
What is a Inside Global address?
Public IP inside host is given as it exits NAT
What is a Outside Global address?

What is Dynamic NAT
Dynamic NAT uses a pool of public addresses and assigns them on a FIFO (First In First Out) basis
What are four [4] Reasons that NAT is positive?
- Conservers IPv4 addresses
- Increases the flexibility of connections to public networks
- Provides consistency even if enterprise changes ISPs
- Provides some security
What are five [5] Reasons that NAT is Negative?
- Performance – translation takes time
- Prevents some apps (e.g. digital signatures)
- End-to-end IP traceability is lost (i.e. auditing)
- Complicates tunnelling protocols, such as IPsec
- Some services can be disrupted
What is IPv6 Unique Local Addresses prefix
FC00::/7 (FC00 to FDFF)
