Q

What is StackWise Plus?

A

StackWise Plus supports local switching, so locally destined packets do not need to traverse the stack ring. Also it supports spatial reuse and the ability to more efficiently utilize the stack interconnect, thus further improving its throughput performance

Q

What is the default hardware priority for a switch stack member?

A

The default value is 1.

To force elect a switch master, their priority must be higher.

Q

How does the RPR supervisor redundancy mode work?

A

The redundant supervisor is only partially booted and initialized. When the active module fails, the standby module must reload every other module in the switch, then initialize all the supervisor functions.

Q

How does the RPR+ supervisor redundancy mode work?

A

The redundant supervisor is booted, allowing the supervisor and route engine to initialize. No Layer 2 or Layer 3 functions are started. When the active module fails, the standby module finishes initializing without reloading other switch modules. Switch ports can retain their state.

Q

How does the SSO supervisor redundancy mode work?

A

The redundant supervisor is fully booted and initialized. Both the startup and running configuration contents are synchronized between the supervisor modules. Layer 2 information is maintained on both supervisors so that hardware switching can continue during a failover. The state of the switch interfaces is also maintained on both supervisors so that links do not flap during a failover.

Q

What is Cisco Nonstop Forwarding?

A

The SSO supervisor redundancy mode can also have Cisco Nonstop Forwarding enabled. CNF is an interactive method that focuses on quickly rebuilding the RIB table after a supervisor switchover. The RIB is used to generate the FIB table for Cisco Express Forwarding, which is downloaded to any switch module that can perform Cisco Express Forwarding.

15
Q

What is the status of the control plane and data plane of VSS switches?

A

Once a VSS is formed, only the control plane (routing table, MAC address table, etc) of one of the members is active. The data plane and switch fabric of both members are active.

16
Q

In regard to VSS neighbors, what is MEC

A

Multichassis EtherChannel. Similar to creating EtherChannels on a switch stack, MEC allows for the creation of EtherChannel connections from multiple chassis switches that are connected as a VSS over a VSL.

17
Q

What commands can you use to verify VSS information?

A

show switch virtual
- Status of VSS members
show switch virtual link
- status of Virtual Switch Link between VSS peers

18
Q

What command can be used to check the interfaces in a VSL?

A

show switch virtual link port-channel
