Recombinant chromosomes
A
The result of crossovers between two alleles of interest. Further part 2 genes -> greater chance of crossover. Frequency of recombination of alleles = measure of the distance between genes.

Genetic mapping
A
Method to locate a gene that causes a disease. Association of a SNP with a disease gene. Study of a family in which a disease is common. Of SNP is almost always associated with gene, they are linked.

Mitochondrial inheritance
A
Have their own DNA. Mitochondria only inherited from mother in animals. Mitochondrial sequences can be used to trace ancestry because of a loach of recombination and simple inheritance pattern from mother.
