Anxiety Disorder
General Anxiety
A disorder characterized by excessive worry about numerous aspects of life
Panic Disorder
A disorder characterized by repeat, unexpected panic attacks. Often treated with SSRI’s
PTSD/Agoraphobia
Involves flashbacks or nightmares following a person’s involvement in or observation of an extremely troubling event such as a war or natural disaster.
Phobias
an anxiety disorder marked by a persistent, irrational fear and avoidance of a specific object or situation
Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD)
Condition wherein persistent, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) cause someone to feel the need (compulsion) to engage in a particular action.
Hypochondriasis
worrying excessively about getting sick
Mood Disorder
a mental health condition that primarily affects your emotional state; extreme sadness, anger
Somatoform Disorders
a group of psychiatric disorders that cause unexplained physical symptoms; hypochondriasis, somatization, conversion
Somatization
dramatic focus on specific symptoms that can’t be shown to link to an ailment
Conversion Disorder
temporary condition relative to nervous system, such as hysterical blindness or numbness
Major Depressive
occurs when signs of depression last two weeks or more and are not caused by drugs or medical conditions
Schizophrenia
a group of severe disorders characterized by disorganized and delusional thinking, disturbed perceptions and inappropriate emotions and actions
Antisocial Personality Disorder
Lack of empathy, patterns of manipulation for selfish benefits, little to no remorse; exhibiting a lack of conscience for doing something wrong
Dysthymic Disorder
a mild, but long term form of depression
Bipolar Disorder
mental health condition marked by extreme mood swings from high (mania) to low (depression)
Histrionic Disorder
which personality disorder is characterized by attention-seeking behavior and extreme emotionality
Schizoid
lacks interest and desire to form relationships with others; aloof and shows emotional coldness and detachment; indifferent to approval or criticism of others; lacks close friends or confidants;
Borderline Disorder
Extreme emotional swings and perceptions of the world, black and white thinking, impulsive behavior
Narcissistic
a personality disorder characterized by exaggerated ideas of self-importance and achievements
