The study of disorders in body functions
Body Planes
Is an imaginary flat surface that divides the body into sections
Frontal coronal plane
The vertical plane that passes through the body longitudinally from head to toe
Anterior
Front
Posterior
Back
Sagittal
The vertical plane passing through the body length wise
Transverse
The horizontal plane passing through the body at right angles to the frontal and sagittal plane divided into the upper superior and lower inferior parts
Superior
Above or in a high position
Inferior
Below or in lower position
Cranial
In or near the head
Caudal
Near the lower end of the body, the end of the spine tail
Medial Inferomedial
Near the midline near the feet closer to the median
Lateral Superolateral
Farther from the midline towards the side, near the head further from the median
Internal
Deeper within the body
External
Towards the outer surface of the body
