Careers and Career Choices
What is the NQF?
It is the National Qualifications Framework.
It is the registered guidelines as well as the records of learners.
What are the objectives of the NQF? (2)
- Personal development of learner
2. Social + Economic development of nation
What are the AIMS of the NQF?
- To have an integrated national framework
- Improve the quality of learning
- Speed up/redress the past
What is the RPL?
It is Recognition of Prior Learning. It is the process where by you are assessed and given credit for your non-verbal learning.
Who qualifies for the RPL?
You have to be over the age of 23.
You have to have atleast 3 years of work experience.
Who is SAQA?
It is the South Afrucan Qualification Authority. They oversee the NQF.
It makes and implements policies and criteria for the registration of education and training.
Who do SAQA work closely with?
Ministers of Education and Labour.
What is the role of SAQA?
- Develop the NQF
2. Co-ordinate the qualification for GET, FET, Trade and Occupations.
What does QC stand for?
Quality Council
What is the QC?
It is the Umalusi and the Council of Higher Education
What levels of the NQF does Umalusi control?
Level 1-4
What levels does the CHE control?
Levels 5-10
What is a job market?
It is a place where people who are looking to be employed and people who are looking to employ can communicate and interact with one another.
What does the job market tell you? (4)
It tells you where you will be working.
What qualifications are needed.
What economic sector it is in and career field.
A brief description of what the job entails is given as well.
What are the 2 most common drivers for change?
