How does the supreme court create decisions?

A

litigants have an arguments on a case, then the justices go into conference and vote on a case. Opinions are drafted and the decision is announced. Most cases are settled on stare decisis, which means an earlier decision should hold for the case being considered. This is also called a precedent.
