What is cleidoic?
“closed”. The type of egg that birds lay (instead of reptiles). The egg has all the nutrients, especially water required by the embyro.

leutinizing hormone

What does FSH do in females?
stimulates the production of eggs
What does LH do in females?
causes the production of estrogen from gonads
What is a negative feedback loop?
When their is enough of something its production stops.
From where is LH & FSH released and where does it go in males?
anterior pituitary to testes
What does LH & FSH do together at the testes?
stimulates cells to produce testosterone
What does FSH do at the testes?
stimulates production of sperm
What stimulates the release of FSH & LH?
GnRH (Gonadotropin-releasing hormone) released from the hypothalamus.
What is an acrosome?
the tip of the sperm used for entering the egg
What does the midpiece of the sperm have?
mitochondria which produce energy and rotation for movement

Where are the sperm storage tabules in female birds?
at the base of the oviduct
