What are conditional convenants
Conditional covenants are based of obligations and requirements and if they are not fulfilled it is broken
What is a unconditional covenant
It comes with no strings attached and will be kept regardless of the persons fidelity or infidelity
What is a general covenant
It is a covenant that is not specific to one group and can involve a wide range of people
Why the new covenant
The people broke the old covenant
God continues to find fault with the people because they broke his covenant
The old covenant is now old and decayed and vanished
Features of the new covenant which make it better than the old
God will show mercy to the unrighteous people by forgiving their sins if they repent
The covenant will be written in their hearts which will make it easier for them to remember and do them unlike than when it was on stone
The people shall be gods people and god will be their god
With Jesus Christ being the corner stone of the new covenant then you can be sure of grace for performance
