1) Hypothesis is derived from the research objectives and should be stated as specifically as possible
2) A sample is obtained and the relevant variables are measured
3) Measured value obtained in the sample is compared to the value eitehr stated expicityl or implied in the hypothesis
- > hypothesis is supported or not supported by the measured value
