Rap started and became popular in inner city USA. Rap/ hip hop has now spread across the globe, and usually blends with the respective cultural music. Just like in the US, other places focus on themes of social justice and issues. Many countries have their own niche version of the greater genre.

Vinyl record came around in 1948 as a method of analog recording by making physical grooves in the material. 4 track cassette popped up in 1962, lot smaller, cheaper, portable recording. Digital CD in 1982, allowed for infinite copies without degradation, plus ultimate ease and cost convenience. Various portable media players appeared from late 70’s through the 2001 creation of the ipod.
