Chapter 13 Equations - Advanced Trigonometry Flashcards
What is the cosine rule for finding a length?
a2 =b2 + c2 -2bcCosA
What is the cosine rule for finding an angle?
CosA = b2 + c2 - a2 / 2bc
What is the sine rule for finding a length?
a/SinA = b/SinB = c/SinC
What is the sine rule for finding an angle?
SinA/a = SinB/b = SinC/c
What is the equation for finding the area of a triangle with 2 lengths and an angle in the middle?
1/2abSinC
What is the sine graph like?
Goes up to +1 at 90 degrees, down to 0 at 180 degrees, down to -1 at 270 degrees and back up to 0 at 360 degrees. This repeats for every 360 degrees.
What is the cosine graph like?
Starts at +1 at 0 degrees, goes down to 0 at 90 degrees, further down to -1 degrees at 180 degrees, back up to 0 at 270 degrees and up to +1 at 360 degrees.
What is the tan graph like?
It starts at 0 at 0 degrees and goes up to +1 at 45 degrees and keep going higher until 90 degrees, where it restarts at 135 degrees at -1 and goes up to +1 at 225 degrees etc.
