Define Crisis
Sudden, disturbed homeostasis during which usual coping mechanisms cannot resolve the problem.
Any stressful situation can precipitate a crisis

Acute response to an external situational stressor

Precipitated by an UNEXPECTED external stressor, individual has no control and from which they feel overwhelmed and defeated

Unexpected external stressor, person has no control over.
General functioning has been severely impaired and ind. is registered incompetent
