What happens during metaphase?
(Chromosomes arrangement and spindle)
Chromosomes line up along the equatorial plane of the spindle. The centromere of each chromosome is attached on both sides to a spindle fibre.
What happens during prophase?
- chromatin threads
- chromatids
- asters
Chromatin threads condens and shorten to become chromosomes. Each chromosome consists of sister chromatids attached at the centromere
Asters, which are made of microtubles, form around the centrioles. The pair of centrioles then move to opposite ends of the cell.
What happens during interphase?
During interphase, chromatin threads replicate producing two identical sister chromatids attached to the centromere. The pair of centrioles also divide.
What happens during anaphase?
Each centromere divides.
